The Tubular Suspension Light from Ingo Maurer is the streamlined, ceiling-mounted sibling to the Tubular Balance. Designed by Sebastian Hepting in 2020, this fixture strips away the table counterweight system to focus on a minimal, linear profile that can be grouped together, horizontally or vertically. The lamp consists of a transparent borosilicate glass tube that can be manually rotated a full 360 degrees even while lit. This allows you to effortlessly switch between direct downward task lighting, sideways accent lighting, or an indirect ceiling uplight. The interior of the glass tube is fitted with a series of tiny, closely spaced louvers which prevent glare and create a uniform, smooth band of light that completely hides individual LED dots. The tube is suspended by its own power cords via adjustable clips. By altering the cord lengths, the lamp can be hung perfectly level or tilted at a dramatic diagonal angle.
