The Floatation Suspension Light by Ingo Maurer is a poetic, sculptural masterpiece designed by Ingo Maurer himself in 1980. Representing a conscious return to natural materials during an era dominated by plastics, it features three-tiered, delicately crinkled Japanese paper shades suspended by thin wires to create the illusion of effortless floating. The physical height of the lamp is adjusted using a signature red-enamelled iron ring that serves as an intuitive counterweight. Pulling or raising the ring alters the vertical placement of the shade.
