The Chiara floor lamp by Flos is composed of a reflecting body in laser-cut stainless steel, finished internally with an opaque white plastic film and folded and closed via hooks formed directly from the sheet metal. A black seal in extruded TPU runs along the entire profile of the body. The internal base in painted steel is attached to the body for stability and it also supports the bulb socket.
Originally designed in 1969, Chiara lamp is a supple construction formed from a simple sheet of polished stainless steel that has been cut and rolled into a cylinder. This self-supporting, origami-like structure hides the lighting source. The light is then reflected and diffused by a large ‘hat’, which resembles a nun’s wimple and veil.
Even switched off, Chiara’s strong and charismatic identity makes a striking impression.
